About TotalRecall Publications

In 1992, Bruce Moran, a former NASA IT professional, transitioned into computer education and developed the BeachFront Quizzer test engine to help his students prepare for certification exams.

With the Beachfront Quizzer, Bruce pioneered a test engine for the computer industry that he later licensed to McGraw-Hill, Wiley and other publishers to include in the early versions of their computer certification study guides. The Quizzer uses randomized, simulated exams drawn from a database of practice questions. A key feature of the software is that it is adaptive--it keeps generating questions in the user’s weakest knowledge areas until a passing score is achieved. By 1995, Bruce had founded BeachFront Quizzer, Inc., to more widely market and distribute his practice tests. Soon, jittery exam candidates across the country welcomed the test engine that made “studying for computer certification as easy as a day at the beach.”

Next, Bruce, literally the quintessential entrepreneur in his garage, formed TotalRecall Publications, Inc., in 2002 to publish his own exam prep books as companions to the BeachFront Quizzer. Based on his teaching experience in vocational schools and computer certification courses, he developed three levels of study content for candidates planning to sit for the most popular certifications. In less than three years, he and a circle of other certified computer professionals had produced more than 100 books and eBooks.

Meanwhile, in 2005, Bruce corralled three internationally experienced Chartered Financial Analysts to write study guides for the three levels of the CFA certification exams. He developed a FinancialExams test engine in CD or online formats to accompany the books.

In 2007, TotalRecall expanded into library and information science by publishing new editions of 12 texts, some formerly distributed by Scarecrow Press, that have been widely adopted in university library science and community college library technician programs. These books are also helpful to public, academic, school and special libraries for staff training and professional development.

TotalRecall Publications are available through bookstores, book wholesalers, and via eBook databases such as NetLibrary, ebrary, and Books24x7.com.
